Born on February 23, 2004, Clingan has been a basketball idol in the state of Connecticut since he was in high school. Playing for Bristol Central High School, he averaged impressive statistics: 27.3 points, 17.2 rebounds, and 5.8 blocks per game in his junior year. This score made him named the Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year.
Led UConn to the Top of the NCAA
Clingan joined UConn in 2021. In his first season (2022-2023), he immediately became a key player. Despite being a freshman, Clingan appeared in all 39 of UConn's games and averaged 6.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. He also broke UConn's record for highest career field goal shooting percentage (.655) and third-highest percentage in a season (also .655).
Clingan's slick performance continued to lead UConn to the National Championship round. He performed solidly as a backup player for UConn's main center, Adama Sanogo, who at that time was the best player in the Final Four (MOP). Ultimately, UConn managed to win the NCAA in 2023.
